RHS Gazania Talent Mixed Seeds 25 Seeds, Half Hardy Perennial Sun Loving Flowers
RHS Gazania Talent Mixed Seeds by Mr Fothergill’s produce jewel bright, daisy like blooms in striking shades of yellow, orange, cream and rose, often with dramatic contrasting centres. This vibrant mix forms neat clumps of attractive silver grey foliage topped with large, long lasting flowers.
Botanically known as Gazania splendens, Talent Mixed grows to approximately 25cm in height with a similar 25cm spread, making it ideal for containers, edging and sunny borders. The compact growth habit and drought tolerance make it especially suited to hot, dry areas where other plants may struggle.
This variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and strong garden performance. The seed range is produced by Mr Fothergill’s in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society.
Gazania flowers open fully in direct sunlight, so the sunnier the position, the better the display. It is perfect for patios, gravel gardens, raised beds and south facing borders.
For indoor sowing, sow from February to April in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly and cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or a propagator lid and maintain a temperature of approximately 20°C. Seedlings appear in 12 to 21 days.
Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays. Gradually acclimatise plants by standing them outside for a few days in late May, avoiding frosts. Transplant 20cm apart in their final flowering position.
Plants flower from July to October in the same year as sowing. Remove dead heads regularly to prolong flowering.
